To be companioned is an age-old tradition associated with birthing.

The laboring mother is not abandoned, rather she is accompanied by her midwife. So too in our dying, we need the presence of a compassionate human being in the form of a ‘spiritual midwife’ to be there with us when the labor pains of our dying begin. When we become frightened, we need the presence of someone who can steer us from fear, ensuring that we do not journey alone.

Offering Counselling Support to Individuals and their Families Facing Death, Dying and Bereavement.

My name is Bríd, pronounced in the modern Irish language, as “Breed”. The name is a derivative of Bridget which stems from the Celtic Goddess Brigid.

For almost 20 years I worked as a Midwife in Dublin Ireland before specializing as a bereavement midwife, offering counselling support to grieving families within maternity care services. Since moving to Canada in 2020, I work as a hospice counsellor alongside a private practice working as a Death and Dying Midwife and Grief Counsellor.

I specialize in supporting you during times of transition. Whether you are navigating your own dying process, grieving a loved one, or you have experienced the death of your baby, I am available to guide and support you on your journey.

Facing life transitions is daunting.

Preparing for these events can require guidance and support. It is important to know you are not alone; that there is somebody who can offer you individualized compassionate care with experienced hands and heart.

Being present at birth and being present at death are the two most privileged places to be. It requires a connection to spirit to bridge the space between two worlds when we transition in or out of this life.

There is no place like a birth bed, except a death bed. And in a way the death bed is a birth bed.
