Meditation Training & Practice
“The gift of learning to meditate is the greatest gift you can give yourself in this life”
Mindfulness Meditation
Mindfulness originated from ancient eastern and Buddhist philosophy and dates back around 2500 years. We have experienced a revolution in the practice of mindfulness meditation here in Western society thanks to the research of Jon Kabat Zinn who developed Mindfulness Based Stress reduction programmes at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Renowned mindfulness teacher and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh has been described as the father of mindfulness.
“Mindfulness is about being fully awake in our lives. It is about perceiving the exquisite vividness of each moment. We feel more alive. We also gain immediate access to our own powerful inner resources for insight, transformation, and healing.”
~ Jon Kabat Zinn
Benefits of Meditation
Helps to restore one’s own innate wisdom and vitality
Meditation practice serves as a huge healing potential
Activates a state of ‘being’ rather than ‘doing’ -by paying attention to the moment rather than dwelling in the past or being fearful of the future
Learn tools to help one ‘respond’ rather than habitually ‘react’ to stress in ones life
In the practice of meditation we come home to ourselves, and are reminded of our shared common humanity, resulting in a more compassionate approach to both ourselves and others
